Which company monitor to choose
We decided to start the review of monitors by considering popular manufacturers. The five best companies selected by our editorial team have proven themselves in the market and deserve that you pay attention to one or more brands in the list:
- Lg... A firm that does not need a separate introduction. The brand from South Korea is known not only for high-quality monitors, but also for supplying its own matrices to other manufacturers. It was LG that made the 21: 9 format popular.
- Samsung... Another South Korean giant, represented in various market segments. As for monitors, their company produces quite a lot, and some solutions, like the Space Monitor line, are completely unique.
- AOC... A Taiwanese manufacturer with headquarters in Amsterdam and factories in China. The company offers both inexpensive office and advanced gaming models, and at a price they are usually much more profitable than their competitors.
- DELL... An American corporation known for its excellent reputation. But recently some DELL monitor models are not as good as 5-10 years ago. Therefore, this manufacturer occupies only one position in our list.
- ASUS... Another popular brand is from Taiwan. The company produces many high-quality monitors, and its gaming models stand out especially. The price of ASUS products depends on the line, but its quality is consistently high.
The best monitors up to 23 inches
Small screen sizes are still very popular. If you need a computer monitor for working with documents, surfing the Internet, sending business letters by e-mail and similar tasks, then it makes no sense to purchase an oversized device. Moreover, the size of the diagonal in this case can only get in the way, since it will not allow covering all the necessary information at once, or it will not be fully used. We've rounded up five excellent 22-23-inch models at an affordable price, making them the best choice for an office and simple home PC.
1. AOC I2281FWH
The affordable I2281FWH monitor is the best option to buy if you need not only functional but also stylish device. Visually, this model looks completely frameless, which is provided by glass in almost the entire front panel. But in practice, the boundaries of the screen start a centimeter to the edge of the monitor. But for about 112 $ waiting for something else was hardly necessary.
The power consumption of the I2281FWH during operation is 22 W. In sleep mode and standby mode, the value drops to 0.3 and 0.5 watts, respectively.
Stylish monitor for office and home is built on the basis of AH-IPS matrix with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, a brightness of 250 candela per square meter and a response of 4 ms. The device has good color rendering, as for its price segment, but it is clearly not suitable for photo processing. The interface set here is minimal enough - a pair of HDVIs, a VGA input, and a 3.5 mm headphone output.
Advantages:
- minimum case thickness;
- attractive appearance;
- good matrix calibration;
- refresh rate up to 76 Hz;
- low cost;
- very stable stand.
Disadvantages:
- the frames are not at all small.
2. Philips 223V7QSB / 00
A good and cheap monitor from Philips, offering IPS screen technology that allows you to enjoy perfect color from any viewing angle, and 250 cd brightness. The response time of the 223V7QSB / 00 matrix is 8 ms, so this model is not suitable for gamers. If we talk about the picture as a whole, then it is ideal for the stated price in 91 $... To enhance the image, the manufacturer has added SmartContrast technology to the monitor, which automatically analyzes the content displayed on the screen, adjusting the brightness and colors for the best display. In general, the device turned out to be excellent for its money. Only a modest set of interfaces represented only by digital DVI-D and analog VGA can disappoint.
Advantages:
- good viewing angles;
- power consumption of only 13 W;
- function of reducing blue color;
- excellent build quality;
- very thin frames around the matrix.
Disadvantages:
- poor set of ports.
3. DELL S2319H
The 23-inch model S2319H from the DELL company continues the rating of monitors. The appearance of the device immediately allows us to understand that we are facing an image model that can decorate the workplace of a business person. Minimal bezels, good image quality thanks to the IPS-matrix with WLED backlighting, excellent display calibration - these are the main advantages of DELL S2319H.
The monitor is TUV Certified for a flicker-free screen with ComfortView technology to stay safe on the eyes at all brightness levels. A high-quality monitor from an American manufacturer has audio connectors for input and output, which allows you to connect headphones / speakers both when using HDMI and when connecting a video card via VGA. However, this is not necessary unless you have special requirements for sound quality, since the S2319H has two built-in speakers of 3W each.
Advantages:
- flicker-free backlight;
- small thickness;
- good matrix calibration;
- stylish appearance;
- built-in speakers.
Disadvantages:
- crystal effect;
- only two video inputs;
- external power supply.
4. ASUS VP239H
The budget monitor ASUS VP239H appeared on the market back in 2013, but to this day it remains one of the most popular on the market in the stated category. The model in question has many competitors, but most of them are inferior either in cost, or in image quality, or in design and assembly. The price tag, by the way, VP239H is not the most modest, and in some stores it reaches 140 $.
The monitor from ASUS supports MHL. In other words, you can display an image from a mobile device via a special cable. This function allows you to turn your smartphone and monitor into a kind of media center.
As for the characteristics, they are as follows: AH-IPS matrix with Full HD resolution and a response speed of 5 ms; 76 Hz refresh rate, flicker-free backlighting and a pair of built-in speakers with a modest 2W total output. There are not too many inputs in ASUS VP239H, but enough for an inexpensive monitor - a pair of HDMI and an analog VGA port. A headphone output is also provided.
Advantages:
- high-quality matrix AH-IPS;
- small body thickness;
- support for MHL technology;
- button lock function;
- thin bezels and great design.
Disadvantages:
- touch control buttons;
- no HDMI cable included.
5. Acer K222HQLCbid
We consider the K222HQLCbid model from Acer to be the best monitor up to 23 inches. The device is based on an IPS-matrix with a response time of 4 ms and a brightness of 250 candela.The monitor uses several proprietary picture quality enhancement features, including Adaptive Contrast Management. Like other screens in the K2 series, the monitored model is based on a rutless white backlighting, which is safe for both users and the environment. As a result, the good model of the monitor has received Energy Star 6.0 certification and has also been able to achieve MPR-II compliance. The only thing that somewhat upsets the K222HQLCbid is the low contrast ratio of 600: 1. Therefore, this model is suitable mainly for working with documents and similar tasks.
Advantages:
- working power consumption 20 W;
- compliance with environmental standards;
- high-quality image of the IPS screen;
- availability of VGA, DVI-D and HDMI inputs;
- a variety of proprietary technologies to improve the picture;
- anti-reflective coating of the display.
Disadvantages:
- only VGA cable included;
- static contrast.
The best monitors with a diagonal of 24-27 inches
Screens of this format are in greatest demand today. They are comfortable to work with, they are suitable for watching movies and TV series, and also completely suit gamers. The range of monitors with a diagonal of 24-27 inches is very extensive, and it offers both affordable models for undemanding users, and devices for gamers, photographers and other professionals. Of course, there are many excellent options on the market, but here too we decided to limit ourselves to the top five.
1. Samsung C24F390FHI
Treat yourself to a truly new emotion with a good PC monitor from the South Korean company Samsung. The C24F390FHI features a 23.5-inch 1800R curved display similar to that found in IMAX theaters. This will allow you to look differently at your favorite TV shows and movies, since when watching video on such a screen, distraction to peripheral vision is minimized.
But these are not all the advantages that the popular Samsung monitor model can boast of. The device supports synchronization of the refresh rate of the picture with AMD graphics cards, thus eliminating overlaps and tearing of frames. Also, for the convenience of gamers, the C24F390FHI provides Game Mode, which automatically optimizes the image for the game. Eye Saver Mode, in turn, can be activated while working in front of the best 23-inch monitor to reduce blue light and reduce eye strain.
Advantages:
- high quality VA panel;
- all the necessary connectors;
- excellent color rendering;
- reasoned price;
- availability of gaming technologies.
Disadvantages:
- glossy finish;
- not too stable stand.
2. AOC C24G1
Is it possible to call a budget monitor, the average cost of which is 210 $? Quite when it comes to the AOC C24G1. This model boasts a 24-inch matrix made with VA technology. This means that it has a good contrast ratio of 3000: 1 and displays deep blacks. At the same time, its color rendition and viewing angles are almost comparable to their IPS-based counterparts.
Video inputs on the C24G1 include VGA, a pair of HDMI, and DisplayPort. It's nice that for the last two, AOC immediately added the necessary cables to the kit.
This inexpensive gaming monitor has a curved screen for a better immersion. The C24G1 sensor supports FreeSync and has a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The leg of the device offers 3 degrees of freedom, and the lack of the possibility of switching the display to portrait mode can be called a logical solution. The design of a good 24 ″ monitor is austere but stylish. The black plastic of the case is diluted with red inserts.
Advantages:
- premium appearance;
- the price for its capabilities;
- high refresh rate;
- curved matrix type VA;
- there is both HDMI and DisplayPort;
- FreeSync support.
Disadvantages:
- the picture lacks sharpness.
3. Iiyama G-Master GB2560HSU-1
Next in line is Iiyama with the best price for a 25-inch monitor - 238 $... Yes, you can buy a model based on a TN matrix cheaper, but not with the characteristics offered by the G-Master GB2560HSU-1. This is a purebred gaming monitor with 1ms response and 144Hz refresh rate.The resolution of the matrix used here is 1920 × 1080 pixels, and the brightness is 400 candelas per square meter.
Iiyama's premium gaming monitor allows for tilt, height, and 90-degree rotation. Despite the impressive capabilities, the device has a low power consumption of 21 watts. The interface kit is also pleasing, where there was a place not only for DP and HDMI video inputs, but also for a pair of USB-A 2.0 ports and a headphone jack. Instead of the latter for simple tasks, a pair of built-in speakers with a total power of 4 watts is suitable.
Advantages:
- screen refresh rate;
- excellent color rendering;
- matrix reaction rate;
- good margin of brightness;
- the degree of freedom of regulation;
- a large set of interfaces.
Disadvantages:
- viewing angles typical of TN;
- not very convenient menu.
4. Philips 276E9QSB
The Dutch company Philips is one of the most demanded monitors on the market. And if you want to buy a good quality monitor at a reasonable cost, then you should look closely at the products of this particular brand. In particular, the 276E9QSB model can be an excellent solution for your needs. It is equipped with a 27-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 75 Hz.
Within the E9 line, three models are presented at once. The modification with the QDSB index differs from the QSB monitored by us in the presence of a 3.5 mm jack and HDMI. QJAB is also equipped with DisplayPort (instead of DVI-D), and 6W speakers.
The monitor is built on a good IPS-matrix with a response speed of 5 ms and a brightness within 250 candela. The screen is anti-reflective and boasts 100% sRGB coverage. The Philips monitor has a power consumption of only 16 watts in active mode and 0.5 watts in standby and sleep modes, which meets the Energy Star 7.0 standard.
Advantages:
- brightness and color rendering;
- thin frames and stability;
- corporate appearance;
- joystick control;
- anti-reflective coating.
Disadvantages:
- inputs only DVI-D and VGA.
5. LG 27UK650
We bring to your attention the best 27-inch monitor - LG 27UK650. This model is used in our edition, so we can say with confidence that the average cost in 378 $ completely justified for her. This is the only TOP monitor to offer 4K resolution. At the same time, it supports over 1 billion shades and is flawlessly calibrated, so working with photos on it is very pleasant.
If you do not need this, then it is worth noting the high brightness of 450 candela per square meter, thanks to which the manufacturer was able to provide full support for the HDR10 standard. Actually, for movies and some games, this is also a good choice, despite the response speed of 5ms. And support for AMD FreeSync hints that the monitor is still aimed at gamers (albeit an amateur audience).
Advantages:
- height adjustment;
- portrait mode;
- HDR10 support;
- flawless matrix;
- 1 billion shades;
- 2 × HDMI and DisplayPort;
- UHD resolution.
Disadvantages:
- insufficient black level;
- instances with uneven illumination.
The best monitors with a diagonal of 29-35 inches
We finish the rating with a category with large screen diagonals. Such monitors can be chosen for comfortable viewing of movies, maximum immersion in games or work on video editing, complex photo processing, 3D modeling, and so on. In addition, in the final category of the review, almost all models (with the exception of the Samsung monitor) have an aspect ratio of 21: 9. On such screens, you can open many windows, having simultaneous access to them, enjoy a movie in the appropriate format, and so on. But the price of such models, of course, is far beyond the budget segment.
1. Samsung C32F391FWI
Perhaps, in a combination of price and quality, Samsung monitors are the best of the A-brands. The C32F391FWI model is an excellent proof of this statement. This device is in pure white color, which looks very attractive.True, both the body and the leg are made of glossy plastic, which means that their presentable appearance will have to be maintained with a cloth and care (you cannot erase scratches, like dust and prints).
The device is based on SVA-matrix with rich black and Flicker-Free. The monitor is quite thin, but this was achieved by moving the power supply outside the case. The declared viewing angles of 178 degrees fully justify themselves in practice, albeit with minimal picture distortion. But what pleases me is the bending of the display, and it pleases for the reasons already described earlier.
The resolution here, by the way, is Full HD, which may seem insufficient for some buyers for a matrix with a diagonal of 31.5 inches. However, not everyone has enough powerful hardware to pull out QHD and even more so 4K, but you still want to have a large screen. However, it will be inconvenient to work here only with text, but for games and watching movies, the C32F391FWI suits perfectly well.
Advantages:
- high-quality matrix;
- attractive design;
- curved display;
- low price of 13-14 thousand;
- compact size;
- convenient joystick control.
Disadvantages:
- pixel size will not suit everyone;
- glossy finish on the legs and frames;
- there is no black version.
2. LG 34WK500
The first model in the rating of monitors with a 21: 9 ratio is the LG 34WK500. It uses a high-quality AH-IPS matrix without bending, having a resolution of FHD (2560 × 1080 pixels). The monitor screen is perfectly calibrated, has an anti-reflective coating and has a brightness of 250 cd / m2. If you are worried that Full HD resolution will not be enough for a 34-inch screen, then you can look at the standard 27-inch models. They are exactly the same in height, and the pixel density there is quite comfortable for the average user. Actually, in reviews, the monitor is never criticized for the graininess of the picture. But the presence of only a couple of HDMI inputs and the absence of any alternative will be a disadvantage for some buyers.
Advantages:
- frequency 75 Hz;
- affordable price;
- picture quality;
- AH-IPS matrix;
- easy customization.
Disadvantages:
- flimsy stand;
- no DisplayPort.
3. BenQ EX3501R
Now let's take a look at the perfect monitor for those who enjoy watching movies. BenQ's EX3501R is perfect for this because it is based on a VA matrix with a high contrast ratio of 2500: 1 for deep blacks, 300 candela brightness and HDR support.
A very useful option for this monitor is the light sensor. Thus, the brightness adjustment for ambient lighting occurs automatically, so the user's eyes will not get tired during operation.
The 35-inch panel EX3501R has a resolution of 3440 x 1440 dots, so it is also well-suited for work. Editing photos on this monitor is a pleasure as it has 100% sRGB coverage and is perfectly calibrated. However, for professionals, it may still not be suitable due to the curvature of the matrix.
Advantages:
- two USB-A 3.1 and USB-C;
- DP 1.4 and a pair of HDMI 2.0;
- excellent calibration;
- light sensor;
- stylish appearance;
- refresh rate 100 Hz.
Disadvantages:
- HDR is still not complete;
- quality of complete cables;
- heating the matrix (especially from below).
4. ASUS MX299Q
A monitor with a beautiful design, good performance and an acceptable cost in 350–420 $... In the off state, the front panel looks complete, and only a convex lower bar stands out in it, where the control buttons are indicated, the technologies used are listed and the manufacturer's logo is applied. On the sides inside this bar there are 3W speakers each. All monitor connectors are placed horizontally, so there is no way to mask the cable. From the ports there are 3.5 mm headphone-out, audio line-in, DP, DVI and HDMI. The latter is combined with MHL.
Advantages:
- high-quality matrix;
- there is support for MHL;
- set of wires;
- thoughtful menu;
- cool design.
Disadvantages:
- no wall mount;
- build quality.
5. LG 34UC79G
The best computer monitor for fast-paced games concludes the review.The 34UC79G features a 34 '' curved FHD sensor. The display's response time is 5ms from gray to gray, so this model is not suitable for professional gamers. But fans will be satisfied with such parameters, especially if the 1ms Motion Blur Reduction function is activated before the gaming session.
The LG monitor is height adjustable, supports AMD FreeSync and features a 144Hz refresh rate. The set of interfaces will not disappoint users: a pair of HDMI 2.0 standard inputs, as well as DisplayPort 1.2; two USB 3.0 connectors and stereo audio for connecting headphones or acoustics. The power supply here is external, and the monitor's power consumption is 52 W in working condition and about 1 W in standby mode.
Advantages:
- screen frequency;
- matrix overclocking;
- good viewing angles;
- availability of USB ports;
- uniform illumination.
Disadvantages:
- factory calibration;
- high minimum brightness.
Which computer monitor is better to buy
If you are purchasing monitors for the office, then you can choose the inexpensive models in the first category. There are also good options for the home, especially solutions from Acer and AOC. Among devices from 24 to 27 inches, the best computer monitors according to customer reviews are offered by South Korean brands, all the same company AOC. But gamers can also be attracted by Iiyama. Among the models with a large diagonal, we were pleased with the 34-inch monsters from LG. For moviegoers, we recommend taking a closer look at the BenQ model. And if you want the classic 16: 9 aspect ratio, then the Samsung monitor is the only, but very worthy solution.
