There have been tons of leaks about the OnePlus 7 over the past couple of months, but so far they haven't given us the slightest idea of what the phone might look like.
That all changed after SlashLeaks posted a new image showcasing the yet to be announced OnePlus phone with a proper edge-to-edge display and - let the haters rejoice! - without screen cutout.
Instead, it looks like the phone will be equipped with a pop-up Vivo Nex S front-facing camera that can be slid out of the main body of the phone.
OnePlus and Vivo are owned by BBK Electronics, and we've seen the company equip its smartphones with very similar features in the past. However, since this is just a rumor, we accept it with a bit of skepticism.
When it comes to smartphones with a pop-up camera, the first that comes to mind is the Vivo Nex S.
In our review, we wrote: “This is a neat solution, but it seems to us that if dropped, such a camera is easier to damage. This is a bigger problem than you might think: on rare occasions the camera would open when the phone was in my pocket and would not close - even with the screen off. "
If - and this is very important - OnePlus opts for a pop-up camera for the OnePlus 7, hopefully they can make it work much better than it did on Vivo.
There is still no word on when a sequel to the excellent OnePlus 6T could arrive, but we do know that it will almost get the powerful new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip.
There were rumors that the smartphone will be available in 5G and 4G versions, but we also heard that OnePlus may release a separate, more expensive line of smartphones for people who want to enjoy the 5G standard as soon as possible.
